Mike Wilder’s Wife, JoNell Glasscock Wilder, dies

JoNell Wilder, widow of the late Mike Wilder—former Boyle County Deputy Coroner, Association Secretary, and Executive Director of the Kentucky State Medical Examiners—passed away on Tuesday.

JoNell Glasscock Wilder, 77, of Danville, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Born in Danville on December 5, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Geneva Whitehouse Glasscock.JoNell is survived by her son, Joe Michael (Kim) Wilder of Nicholasville; brothers: Sonny (Joyce) Glasscock and Randy (Sue) Glasscock, both of Perryville, and Lee (Wanda) Glasscock of Lebanon; and 2 beloved grandboys: Blake and Graham Wilder. Also left to mourn her loss are her precious nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she cherished deeply, including Caribeth Durham Brown who she considered a second daughter.In addition to her parents, JoNell was preceded in death by her husband, William Michael “Mike” Wilder, and her daughter, Joni Michelle Wilder.JoNell was a 1965 graduate of Boyle County High School where she was named the first homecoming queen. After graduation, she went to the University of Kentucky where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. JoNell taught at Perryville Elementary School for over 30 years before she retired. She enjoyed teaching and building lifelong connections with her students.  After retirement, JoNell continued serving the community through the floral and funeral industries as she and her late husband, Mike, owned and operated The Flower Basket and Wilder Funeral Home.  She was also active at Perryville Christian Church where she served as pianist for many years. Recently, JoNell was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award by the Boyle County Alumni Association. JoNell’s favorite pastimes were spent traveling and watching her grandboys play sports. She loved hosting family and friends at her home, affectionately known as “the party house”, where all their special occasions were held. JoNell will be remembered by her family and friends as the “glue” that held them all together.

Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 PM Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Perryville Christian Church. Funeral service will be Monday, December 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM with Greg Warren and Wendy Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Neal Brown, Michael Wayne McHolon, Nathan Glasscock, Stephen Mayes, Clint Wilder, Jimmy Wayne Glasscock, and Allen Harmon. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Perryville Christian Church.
