Announcements
The Kentucky Coroner’s Association is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Forrest Richard Hicks, Wayne County Coroner, Past President of the KCA, and a longtime member of our association board.
Forrest dedicated his life to public service. A second-generation funeral director and embalmer, he began his medicolegal career working alongside his father before ultimately serving the citizens of Wayne County as their Coroner. He was Board Certified by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) and an Investigator Affiliate of the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME)—credentials that reflected his commitment to professionalism and excellence in the field.
Throughout his many years with the Kentucky Coroner’s Association, Forrest served in numerous leadership roles, including Past President, board member, committee member, and trusted advisor. His institutional knowledge, steady leadership, and dedication to improving death investigation across the Commonwealth made a lasting impact on our Association and on coroners statewide.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Hicks family, the Wayne County Coroner’s Office, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside Forrest. His legacy of service and mentorship will not be forgotten.
