2026 Annual Conference – Day #3
Attendees at this morning’s session heard from the Kentucky Office of Vital Statistics during the Kentucky Coroners Association Annual Conference.
The presentation focused on the newly revised Provisional Report of Death form, along with key updates and guidance to assist coroners and deputy coroners in completing the form accurately and consistently.
We appreciate the Office of Vital Statistics taking the time to walk through these updates and for their continued partnership in supporting the work being done across the Commonwealth.
Today’s list of presenters included an important and informative session from Cortney Johnson, Director of Development and Community Relations with the Epilepsy Foundation of Kentuckiana.
Her presentation focused on Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy, providing valuable insight into awareness, risk factors, and the importance of understanding this often under-recognized condition.
We appreciate Cortney taking the time to share her knowledge and help bring greater awareness to SUDEP and its impact on individuals, families, and communities across the Commonwealth.
The Kentucky Coroners Association wrapped up its conference with an outstanding and practical session led by two of our own.
Amber Constantino, Kenton County Coroner, and Amanda Melton, McCracken County Coroner, closed out the event by sharing a series of unique and recent case studies from their respective offices. Each presentation offered real-world insight into the challenges and complexities we face in medicolegal death investigations.
Having fellow Kentucky coroners present cases directly from here in the Commonwealth made this session especially impactful. It provided attendees with relatable scenarios, practical takeaways, and a valuable opportunity to learn from experiences that closely reflect the work being done across our own counties every day.
